Teams Should Pick Up Lamar Jackson
The NFL offseason is finally among us and leads the fans to many questions around the NFL. The biggest storylines come out with free agency, draft, and players asking for trades. But the biggest storyline this season has to be Lamar Jackson and the non-exclusive franchise tag. Deshaun Watson had teams ready to give him a fully guaranteed contract and trading multiples picks for him when teams knew he was going to get suspended. Russell Wilson had teams willing to do the exact same thing but teams cautious about his age and when he was going to decline. Lamar Jackson is 26 years old and a former MVP. Teams have said they do not want to have talks with Jackson because the Ravens will match the offer. Teams do not want to do all this work for Jackson, just for the Ravens to use them to get a contract done with Jackson. That makes sense but teams need a quarterback.
There are multiple teams in the NFL that need a QB like Lamar Jackson to take them where they want to go. Having a good QB is the most valuable thing you can have across all sports. The New York Jets realize that and are pursing former MVP, Aaron Rodgers. The Commanders, Giants, Panthers, Falcons, Buccaneers, and Lions should all pick up their cell phones right now and having a plane fly to Baltimore tomorrow.
The NFC South makes the most sense due to the lack of experience from the quarterback position. The four quarterbacks consist of Kyle Trask, Derek Carr, Matt Corral, and Desmond Ridder. Carr is the only quarterback out of the bunch that has started an entire season. DJ Moore, Chris Godwin, Mike Evans, or Drake London will be the best wide receiver he has ever played with. Just sit back and think about that one.
The Lions are my favorite option due to the openness of the NFC North. Jackson is worth first round picks and the Lions have multiple firsts along with tons of picks throughout the draft. Aaron Rodgers is leaving the Packers and who knows if Jordan Love can fill those shoes. The Vikings are cutting everyone this offseason while listing to offers on Dalvin Cook. The Bears are in the middle of a rebuild with the number one overall pick attached to their name. The Lions are favorited to win this division without have their quarterback of the future. The Lions are a young team but with Jackson they could go places farther than expected.
As Always Ya Boy,
